The BID Proposal

The final plan for the Business Improvement District is available to view now by clicking here.

This document is the result of more than 12 months’ development work with local businesses. The BID proposal outlines the benefits the BID will bring to Burnley town centre, providing information on how the BID will operate, the specific added value projects and services that will be delivered to improve the town centre and confirms information about the costs for eligible businesses.

The average cost for businesses in the town centre will be the equivalent of £1.93/day, less than a cup of coffee. This small added value investment from eligible businesses will deliver more than £1million of additional investment into our town centre between 2020 and 2025 creating a modern, vibrant and connected town centre for all.

  • The ballot papers for the BID are being posted out on the 24th October 2019 and need to be returned to Electoral Reform Services by the 21st November, with the result of the ballot being planned for announcement on the 22nd
  • If approved the BID will begin on the 1st April 2020 for a five-year period.
  • All premises with a rateable value above £12,000 are included in the plan for a BID. Voluntary membership is available for any premises with a rateable value below £12,000.
