Key Dates and Events for November

  • Sunday 10th November  – Remembrance Sunday
  • Monday 11th November – BID Briefing Sessions

  • Saturday 16th November – Christmas Party and the Christmas Lights Switch
  • Saturday 30th November  – Burnley Light Night (4.30pm – 5.30pm)

Arrangements for the annual Service of Remembrance to be held at the Peace Garden, Croft Street, Burnley on Sunday 10th November have been announced.

The service will start shortly before 11am and will be conducted by the Bishop of Burnley, the Right Reverend Philip North CMP; Father Roger Parker, Chaplain to the Royal British Legion; and Father David Featherstone, parish priest of St. Mary’s with St John’s & Christ the King Church.

Members of the public attending are asked to be at the Peace Garden no later than 10.45am.

Please note the following road closures for 10th November 2019:

St James’ Street from its junction with Curzon Street to its junction with Parker Lane

Parker Lane from its junction with St James’ Street to its junction with Finsley Gate

Red Lion Street from its junction with Parker Lane to its junction with Croft Street

The unnamed road from its junction with Parker Lane to its junction with the William Thompson car park

Croft Street from its junction with Red Lion Street to its end in a south-westerly direction for approximately 32.5 metres.

The restriction will be in effect between 10am and noon and is to facilitate the safety of those taking part in the Remembrance Day parade.

16th November Christmas Party and the Christmas Lights Switch

Burnley’s Family Christmas Party and the Christmas Lights Switch on will take place on Saturday 16th November in Burnley Town Centre – here’s what’s in store … there’s a great line up of festive family fun and a fantastic Greatest Showman themed stage show.

~ 3pm to 5pm, Greatest Showman themed Stage Show
~ 5 pm – Fireworks and Switch On
~ 10 am – 3 pm Character trail. Children’s Competition to
locate 6 famous characters who each have a riddle.
~ Snow Lion walkabout throughout the day in Charter Walk
~ 10 am to 5 pm Christmas Street Market on The Mall
~ 10 am to 5 pm Arts & Crafts Market on Boot Way
~ Funfair rides throughout the town
~ Interactive Birds of prey on St James Street
~ Music and dance performances throughout the town centre.

 

 


The magical Light Night lantern parade is back in #BrilliantBurnley for 2019. Make your own lantern at one of fun workshops, (see below for workshop times)

Once you’ve made your lantern you’re ready to be part of the light parade. The Parade begins and ends outside Burnley Central Library at 4.30pm and will finish around 5.30pm outside the Library.

Featuring live music from Mr Wilson’s Second Liners and Suco Samba
